about me

Well, were do I start… I’m a family man. My life revolves around my family, a beautiful & amazing wife Toni and 3 precious little girls. I’m surrounded by beauty everyday—well and a bit of drama, but still, really blessed! Oh, and can’t forget about our crazy little dog Gizmo.

We’re originally from Houston, Texas but moved out west to Katy back in 2007 because I was getting sick and tired of a 1 hour commute to work (2 hours if there was rain). Katy is a little friendly town and a great place to raise a family; great schools, great food, fresh air, very little traffic and everything we need or want is about 5-10 minutes away—love it!

Now on the side I’m a visual thinking creative genius, if you want to put a label on me I believe the term is “Graphic Designer” but that label is too limiting cause I’m way more than that. I think it all began back when I was a little kid. I found this paper with a picture on it and began doodling a pair of horns, a mustache and a beard. It was truly a work of art!!! However, it turned out that was a picture of my grandma. Ooops!!! So, later in my teens I grew up I set my sights on the bigger things in life, you know like walls and trains. Then during my last year in high school I found out people actually could get paid for drawing! How cool, so I signed up at The Art Institute of Houston in 1998 and learned tons of amazing stuff. I graduated in 2000 and was really attracted to finished printed pieces. So I focused on the printing side of design and started the first 5 years working in print shops, gaining a ton of knowledge of how printed products were made. There’s nothing’ like the smell, feel, sight, sound and taste of something freshly printed!!! ahhhhh.

So why design? Well, to me design is more than a problem solving discipline and more than just making something look pretty. Every decision has an impact, so it’s all in the details—everything from the color, shapes, images, fonts, copywriting, layout, finishing. Each detail says something about you. Plus, I love working on my Mac/Wacom tablet, generating ideas, shooting trouble, playing with paper and x-acto knives, sketching ideas, making things right, learning tons of new things, finding a better way, and cost effective design (guerrilla design).

I hope to create works that transform the ordinary into something remarkable, inspire others and make tons of friends with amazing people like you who are making a difference and have an great story that needs to be spread.
